Picket Fence

I was at a local store here in SLC called Home Again and I saw this section of a picket fence for sale. They were originally asking $75 dollars for it! Can you believe that...$75 Bucks! Anyway, it was marked down to $25 so I bought it to put in my flower bed and add some interest to it. It was bright yellow which I didn't want but I knew I could just paint it.

I went to Home Depot today and bought a $1 miss-tint, it worked out good enough.

We had fun painting the fence. Once the paint went on I kind of liked the yellow showing through, it made it look 'weathered'. so we were pretty sloppy and didn't try to cover every inch.

Utah Valley Garden Tour

I went to the Utah Valley Garden Tour a couple weeks ago. I would say that most of the yards were just mediocre. But there was one yard that was unbelievable!!

Every inch of her garden was amazing. There are tons of pictures, but it was right in the middle of the afternoon so the lighting was a little harsh. So you can't get the best picture for how absolutely beautiful this yard was!

She has 'stuff' (meaning trinkets and decorations, etc) stuck in everywhere all over her garden, which made it so fun to look at.

These tall spiky plants were like 6 feet tall

I loved that she stacked pots and planted in them, she had them like this everywhere.

This was an old outhouse

This is Sharon, the Master behind this yard!

She told us that she spends 3 to 4 hours in her yard everyday. AND that she hand waters everything herself!
p.s. if you are in Utah I know Sharon loves visitor's to her garden. You can contact me and then I could give you her address and/or email.

Japanese Maple- Swoon!

OH My Heck!
I've been thinking about getting a second Japanese Maple for my flower beds in the front yard. I was at a local flower nursery (Glover) and scoped out their shipment. They were A.May.Zing!

Tamukeyama Laceleaf Japanese Maple
See the picture below and to the left is my Japanese Maple that I already have. The one I bought today is going just across the walkway on the right. I am completely revamping that flower bed. I had a lot of stuff die over the winter. I dug it all out and got it prepped for new plants!

And all these plants are going into the urns and I have an old antique wash tub that I plant flowers in every year!

I love all these colors together, Can't wait to get them all done and looking good. I'll show you pictures when I'm all done.

My Garden This Week

Saturday was such a nice day, I got a ton done in my flower beds.
I love my flowers! Bleeding Heart is one of my most favorite flowers in the world!
What a beautiful creation, don't you think?
We went on a walk around the lake an came back and hung out in the front yard. My oldest loves to play with the water hose.
Baby looking on wanting to join the action

This bed looks a little bare because I dug up a bunch of stuff that died over the winter, but now it's a clean slate to add stuff to!!
