Guest Post - JandJ Home

Hi, I'm here from JandJHome and am so excited to be guest posting here at First Lady of the House. This is my first time Guest Posting and I couldn't be more thrilled than to start here. I fell in love with Camilla's header the day I saw it and was so honored the day she featured my bench.  I love a great DIY project, crafts, and fixing up my house and have found so much in common with Camilla.

I decided to start my blog while searching for inspiration to fix up my family room.  One secret corner that I {forgot} to post was the end of my couch.  I had this leather bin from Target full of magazines for a while.  I bought this tray to place on the ottoman when guests come over to watch a game, you know, for chips, dip, etc. One day, it found a home on top of the bin and hence, my end table.
The red you see there are some leftover Christmas presents.  Yes, I realize it's March, I'm working on it.
Here's a peak inside.
A couple of weeks ago, my friend gifted me some really cool mid century pieces. I fell in love with this table and knew the perfect spot for it. I kept the accessories simple, with this round vase from Goodwill and some magazines.
I'm loving my new look.

This blog swap was such a great idea and I'm so glad I was able to 'meet' you all. I'd love for you to stop by JandJHome and check out all my projects! I love making new friends! Thanks Camilla!

Scripture Cover

When I saw this Scripture Cover over at Delia Creates I fell in love with it. 1) because it is not like all the other boring covers out there made with industrial fabric or made from the 80's with all the quilting frilly'ness. 2) because Gery and Yellow I LOVE right now! I think it is so beautiful! Nice Job Delia!

She has the full tutorial over at her blog! Check it out...I love her blog!

{Pottery Barn-Inspired} Easter Ceramics

I saw these Ceramic Easter Bunnies on the Pottery Barn website several weeks ago.
I knew that you could find a ton of these ceramic Easter statues at the local thrift store.

I went to DI (Local) and found a bunch of old dirty out-dated ceramics. I snatched them up for about $2.00 total.
I removed the ribbons and raffia that were tied around the necks and scraped off the hot glue. I gave them a layer of Krylon White spray paint primer and then a couple layers of Krylon White Gloss spray paint.

There were unfortunately no bunnies (or no bunnies with the look I was going for) at the thrift store, so we went with ducks...still very Easter-y and Springy!

Library Tote

The Girl Creative sewed this Library Tote bag, she makes it look SO easy.

These would make awesome baby gifts with a book inside too!

And isn't that fabric to DIE for! I absolutely love that peacock fabric.

Earring Look-Alike

Remember last weeks Cosmic Shopping post and I bought these earrings?

Well, my sister  saw them and wanted them so bad! But, So did I. I didn't want to give them up, SO I was at Hobby Lobby after our conversation and I saw these necklace pendants on the jewelry aisle, and I thought they looked very similar to my earrings...So I knew I could make them into earrings! I just attached earring hooks onto the pendants...took like 3 minutes, IF that.

Here they are!

They aren't exact but they have the same "feel" don't you think?
